RUNNING

WELLINGTON HARRIERS. The attendance at the weekly run of "the Wellington Harriers, held at the Hutt on Saturday, was somewhat below The average. In the face of a heavy rain squall the pack followed a trail laid by B. De Bakker and F. Wilton over some good level country. Owing to the rain, the “going” was found to be heavy -on the flat, so to avoid this as far as possible the hares climbed the hill beyond Waiwetu, but, on descending, found themselves confronted by a stretch of gorsecovered country, which played havoc with the legs of the runners. After reaching the flat, the course led back to the starting point (Bellevue Gardens) along the Waiwetu road and across a number of sodden paddocks. The “run in” was won by H. J. Pollock, W. Tall second, W. Bennett third. For the annual teams road race, which is this year being controlled by the Wellington Centre of the N.Z.A.A.A., the harriers expect to be represented by even better teams than they have previously entered for the event. PRESS ASSOCIATION DUNEDIN, July 27. At a meeting of the local Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association a letter was received from the New Zealand Council and the Canterbury ■Centre in reference to the reconstitution of the council. It was resolved that the previous decision be adhered to, namely, that the matter be referred to the next annual conference of centres. The council's offer to Otago to hold this year’s New Zealand cross-country championship was accepted. The event is to be held on Labour Day.
