AUCKLAND, July 29. The provincial amateurs’ boxing championships concluded this evening under the auspices of the Northern Boxing Association. „ Bantam-weight.—J. Montague defeated G. Rooley after a good contest. W. Butland was uhable to appear. T. Lewis (lOst 101 b) defeated E. Thornton (12st 71b) iu heavy-weights after a fast and exciting contest, both men receiving much punishment in tne third round. , - W. M. Hogan (Waihi) won the featherweight championship on a foul in the second round from H. Donovan. J. Maloney defeated J. Dean for tne light-weight championship in the second round. , .... T. Lewis, who had a short time previously won the heavy-weight contest, defeated W. Millen after a rather tame contest.
