There are at present at the Masterton hatcheries 300,000 brown trout and 90,000 rainbow trout. These are from Kotorua. Another 300,000 ova from the Temuka and Opiki rivers are expected to-morrow. Distribution is at present taking place- and the last 6000 of last season's trout will be placed in streams iii t-liw YVairarapa and Bush districts during the next four weeks. The maidens of Denmark never experience the pleasure of receiving a dianicnd engagement-ring. They are presented with a plain gold band, which l® worn on the third linger of the left hand. On the wedding-day the bndegi O'O'iti changes the ring to the right third finger, which is the marriagefinger in that country.
