Miss Edith Bendall, the clever painter of children, lias a fin© show of sketches at McGregor Wright’s studio on Lambton quay. It is Miss Bendall’s delight to paint prettily-dressed toddlers in their many moods, and to say that she Buoceeds is less praise than the lady deserves. There is a quaint charm about her children that at once attracts attention and holds it. “Her First Gloves ” is very natural, and “Miss Impertinence” well describes a pert little minx. There is a cleverly-designed panel of children of tho week, commencing with “ Monday’s child is fair of face,” and showing other delightful glimpses of little ones. There is also a charming sketch of a Gainsborough girl; a study of a girl’s faoe in profile, showing a nice discrimination in colour and technique; and a head and shoulders sketch, evjfi-ily recognisable as of Miss !I*s brother. ’• >;-.!o in - 800 public baths, which are i;d ' S .'3.000 people daily.
