The appointment of Mr J. W. Jo.ynt as honorary representative at Wellington of the Associated Board of the Royal Academy of Music and th© Royal College of Music has been approved hy the Prince of Wales. Miss Mabel Mee, second daughter of Mr George Mee, of Wellington, was married to Lieutenant Frederic Cooper, R.N., of H.M.S. Ocean, at St. Mary’s Church, Bromley (in Kent), on July sth. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Benjamin Dudley, M.A., cousin of the bride. Mr H. C. Tewsley, who is succeeding Mr M. Laing as one of the managers of tho Wellington branch of Sargood, Son, and Ewen, was farewelled at Auckland on Friday last by a gathering of citizens at the Corporation offices, the Mayor (Mr Myers) presiding. Among the speakers were Canon Mac Murray and Mr Massey, M.H.R. Mr M. R, McCulloch, M.A., of Nelson College, has been appointed second assistant and assistant house-master at the Waitaki Boys’ High School. There were seven applicants for the position. At the Presbyterian Church, Nelson, on Saturday last, Miss Emily Griffith, second daughter of Mr Sydney Griffith, of Tasmania, was married to Mr R. McKenzie, M.H.R. for Motueka. Mr A. D. Little, after having made ninety-six consecutive round voyages between San Francisco and Sydney, extending over a period of twenty-on© years, first as chief engineer of the Alameda, and then in a similar capacity on the Sonoma, ha© retired from the service of the Oceanic Company, and settled in San Francisco. He was attached to tlie Alameda when the American service was inaugurated, in the year 1885, and transferred to the Sonoma when that vessel and her two sister ships were built for the Australian trade. Among residents in Chili who have relations in New Zealand is Mr C. P. White, 0.E., and Mrs White. Mrs White, a daughter of Mrs Grace, of Hawkestone street, Wellington, and the late Hon. Dr Grace, lived with her three children at Los Andes, which is reported to have been destroyed. Mr White, who has relatives at AshleyClinton, in Hawke’s Bay, was professionally engaged in India before going to South America to direct tho construction of the important line of railway destined to connect the Argentine with the Pacific coast.
