The contractor for the building of the consumptive annexes and the administrative building in connection therewith at Newtown has made a start with the work, which is to be completed by the end of July. The chief portion of the work is the administrative building—a single story brick structure containing dining rooms for male and female patients (with the necessary adjuncts for the proper preparation of the food), offices, and general conveniences. The annexes provided for in the plans are five in number, giving accommodation for fourteen patients in all. These are separate wooden cubicles, especially designed to permit of the free circulation of air, having doors on all sides, in the form of French windows cut in half, so that either the upper or lower half or both may be opened at will, according to the weather or disposition of the patient. There are also special air entrances under the eaves all round each annexe. The buildings are being constructed from the plans of Messro Crichton and McKay by Mr W. G. Emenv. at a Cost of £3IOO.
