LADY’S LETTER FROM GREYMOUTH

The second annual meeting of the Ladies’ Mawhera Cricket Club was held) at Mrs Sampson’s residence on the 22nd, there being a full attendance of membens. It was decided to change the name of the club to that of the Grey Ladies’ Cricket Club. The following were elected officers: —President, Dr. James Mcßrearly; vice-Presidents, Messrs E. A. Dickes and C. Phillips; Secretary and Treasurer, Miss L. Reeis; General Committee; Mi’s Alison, Misses R. Weber, F. Sampson and V. Kettle; Captain, Miss E. Kemble; vice-Captain, Miss L. Isdell. Miss Neilley, who leaves this week for New Plymouth, was presented by Mr Ring, on behalf of tbe Presbyterian Sabbath School teachers with a handsome set of silver mounted hair brushes and mirror. The Rev. R. Stewart, on behalf of Miss Neilley’e Sabbath School class presented her with a shoe horn and button-hook in case. A pleasant evening was spent with songs and games. Refreshments were handed round and; the proceedings closed with the singing of “God be with you till we meet again.” Miss Mary Hoglund was presented on Sunday the 22nd inst., by the Superintendent and teachers of _ tbe Holy Trinity Sunday School with a beautiful ebony dressing case, and by the scholars of her class with a handsome biscuit bowl. Miss Hoglund left for Dunedin by the Mapourika, where she is to be married to Mr King, second officer of tbe Warrimoo. Mr W. Jay returned home on the 26th after spending a holiday in Wellington. Mr and Mrs of Hokitika- will take up their residence in Greymouth shortly, having taken the house lately occupied by Mi- J. Steer. Mrs Turner and Miss Skoglund have left for Christchurch by the overland route. Mrs W. Thomas has gone on a visit to her mother and sister in Auckland.
