EGG-LAYING COMPETITION.

LINCOLN COLLEGE UTILITY POULTRY CLUB.

BLENHEIM, September 9.

Results for the nineteenth week of the New Zealand egg-laying competition: — Total for the week, 2725; average per pen, 27i; grand total, 27,872; grand average, 278.72.

The Marlborough Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s pen was highest for the week with a total of 37. Leger’s white Leghorns still maintain the lead, Brookes being second. W. Hockey’s (Nelson) brown Leghorns have displaced W. Draper’s pen for third place. W. Draper’s and the Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s pens are a tie for fourth place, with a total of 414 —one behind third place.

The weather has been the most unfavourable since ’.he start of the competition. A large number of birds are broody, buff Orpingtons and silver Wybeing the most prominent in the clucky flock.
