FLOWERS FOR CUTTING
Among the best flowers for table and house decoration are sweet peas, and they have the additional merit of being of a delicate and agreeable perfume. Though these are best raised from autumn sowings, the present time is an excellent one for getting in seed for later blooming. The colours are so delicate and varied that every taste may find satisfaction. One of the two-and-sixpenny German packets of 24 varieties, obtainable from Wellington seedsmen, will be found to yield excellent results. A selection of distinctive colours is comprised in the following:— American, blood-red; Brilliant, bright scarlet; Coquette, primrose yellow; Blanche Burpee, pure white; Celestial, pale blue; Her Majesty, rose pink; Navy Blue, violet purple; Venue, salmon buff; Coccinea, bright cherry red; Hon. Mrs E. Kenyon, pale primrose ; Golden Gleam, creamy yellow; Othello,, deep maroon. This dozen are all obtainable in Wellington, and are all first class. For those who would also like mixed shades, the catalogues supply a copious list. Our own recommendation, based on long experience, is, however, to obtain one of the before mentianed packets.
