At last week’s meeting of the Technical Education Board. Mr David Robertson raised the question of the insurance of the Board’s teachers against accidents. He said that at present the only employee of the Board who was insured was the caretaker, part' of whose duties it was to clean the windows. He pointed out that should one of the teachers happen to fall downstairs the Board would be liable. Mr James Robertson suggested that if the teachers fell downstairs they would do it at their own risk, but if a Venus de Milo were to fall upon them, that would he at the Board’s risk. Mr Thomas Ballinger said that was not the law of the land. Mr D. Robertson thought the Government should insure the whole of the teachers in the colony. On his motion the director (Mr La Trobe) was requested to ascertain tb© Board’s liability with respect to accidents to the teaching staff, and to report.
