An order for a steam-motor tipping waggon for use in Wellington has been placed by Mr J. J. K. Powell with the Straker Steam Vehicle Company. The steam-motor waggon is a vehicle that makes ancient history of the noisy traction engine, for the machinery for its propulsion is quite subsidiary, in so far as.,space is concerned, to the big steep tip, hopper, -which will carry five tons, and,'at the same time will tew a trailer-!waggon carrying . another two tons. [the steam-motor waggon costs about’ £BSO landed. It will he used by Mr Powell chiefly for the cartage of road metal.
