LAND TRANSACTIONS.

SYDNEY, August 29. The extradition of W. N. Willis, who was arrested in connection with the lands scandal, has been applied for at Durban, South Africa. SYDNEY, August 31. At the Lands Commission evidence was given in connection with a batch of leases in the Bathurst district. The statements disclosed that all the leases for which W. N. Willis was agent were rushed through as the result of ■ pressing action on the Under-Secretary for Lands, and were contained in a special “ Gazette ” prepared after midnight on a day when land matters were not usually published. The Government Printer gave evidence that he demanded executive authority before he published the “ Gazette,” because so many unusual things were done about that time.
