AHAURA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The usual fortnightly meeting of the AhaUra Lodge of Druids was held on Thursday evening, 17th inst., m Jam ess Hall, a large number of the brethren were present. Brother G’Sullivan, A.D., presided. Two new members were initiated and four were proposed for membership. It was decided to hold a social on Friday evening, Ist September, and an energetic Committee was elected to carry out the same. Mr and Mrs H. Gilmer, for many years resident at Totara Flat, left on Tuesday last, per overland route, for Ashburton to reside on the farm which they have recently .acquired. Their son, Hugh, is left to manage the farm at Raupa, Totara Flat, so long and successfully occupied by them. Their departure is keenly felt by their many friends and acquaintances in the district, all of whom wish them every success in their new home. The third annual ball given by the dredgemecn of Nelson Creek and Callaghan’s, was held on Friday evening August 11th, and was a complete success. The room was most tastefully decorated, and its capacity taxed to the utmost. The dredgemen deserve the greatest credit for the excellent entertainment provided.
