THEFT ON A NEW SOUTH WALES TRAIN. SYDNEY, August 22. A sensational robbery took place on the western mail train On arrival of the train at Redfem this morning it was discovered that nine ordinary mail bags from stations on tlie Cowra-Blayney branch line had been cut open, and the registered contents extracted, the registered bags being afterwards replaced by ordinaries. Evidently the thief in his hurry overlooked a few registered letters. ' When and how the offence was committed is a complete mystery. So far as is known the bags were'intact when transferred at Blayney to the western mail. No mail van was attached to the train, and there was no postal official in charge.
