Amongst the “has-beens” of the navy may now be numbered H.M.S. Orlando, which but a few years ago was flagship on the Australian station. She has just been condemned as of no further practical fighting value, and sold for only £IO,OOO. The destroyers Karrakatta and Boomerang, members of the Australian auxilliary squadron, which, on their arrival in Southern waters about fifteen years ago were so warmly welcomed, have also found their way to the broker’s yard. The Karrakatta brought £I9OO at auction and the Boomerang £1875.
