AUSTRALIA- V- LANCASHIRE. LONDON August 21. At Liverpool to-day the Australians ibegan a match against Lancashire. The weather, was fine, but the wicket, if anything, a trifle soft. Gregory is ‘suffering from strain, and. Duff is laid aside by rheumatism. Darling won the toss, and sent in Hopkins and Trumper, the former be- _ ing dismissed with the total at 22. The Australian cricketers began a match against Kent at Canterbury today in delightful weather and on a fast wicket. Three thousand people witnessed the game. Nohle and Darling, while together, largely increased the score. The former was at the wickets a couple of hours. At times he was very aggressive, hitting nine fourers —three in one over. Darling, when he had made 69, was missed twice in one over. He hit seventeen fourers.
