INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION

CHRISTCHURCH, August 28. The Executive Co nmissioner of the Jsfew Zealand International . Exhibition has issued an official leview of last week a progress in connection with, the exhibition. He purposes issuing a similar report weekly. Last week’s report states that the building committee h-as approved a de-. sign for the main building, which will have a frontage of 850 ft to the River Avon, and extend 220 ft back, and be capable of further extension Unnecessary. Preliminary sketches of the gallery, machinery, and concert halls are being prepared by the architects, and will be submitted to the building committee shortly. A manual electric pneumatic organ has been ordered from Messrs Ingram and Company, Hereford. England, and is to be erected in the exhibition concert hall in a playable condition before October Ist, 906. Invitations have been issued to the Mayors of Dunedin. Wellington, and Auckland, requesting them to convene meetings of citizens for the purpose of setting up local advisory committees to represent the exhibition in those centres, and assist it from a colonial point of view. Shipping agents were being appointed at all the principal ports of the world, whose duties it would be to receive and forward exhibits, and advise inquirers as to the most economical, expeditious, and comfortable routes by which to reach the exhibition.
