There has been a lot of ram here lately, and the roads are very bad with neavy traffic. Mr R. Cameron has fimsUed metalling at the corner of Douglas and East roads.

There is some talk of Messrs Derby Bros’, mill closing down for the winter on account of the roads being so bad.

The New Plymouth Bash and Door Co. lias stopped carting logs on the Waxwera road for tlie inter. There is to b% a slight alteration in the railway timetable between Toko and Oruru. Th© alteration will be a Retie more convenient for the people living around Oruru during the winter months. Mr Waiter Byrnes, M.H.R., paid a visit to some parts of h-s electorate last week. He Avas welcomed by a large number of people Avhere be. delivered an address. He received a \ r ote of thanks for his past services, and a promise or strong support in the future. At Huiroa on VV ednesuuy Mr Byrnes performed the ceremony of unfurling the flag at the school, and also addressed the children and adults Avho Avere assembled. OAVxng to the rain there Avas not a very large gathering.
