THE QUEEN’S STATUE, WELLINGTON. —The bronze statue, erected to the memory of the late Queen Victoria in the Post Office Triangle, Wellington, was unveiled by His Excellency the Governor, Lord Plunket, on Saturday, April 29, in the presence of the Premier, the Mayor, and a large gathering of citizens. The cost of the statue, which has been met by public subscription, will be over £2OOO. It was designed by Mr Alfred Drury, A.R.A., London, and cast by Messrs Froome and Co., Somerset, and is said to be one of the largest sculptured figures yet produced of our late Queen.
