MR DANE'S RECENT MISSION
LONDON. May 8. Mr Louis Dane, head of the British mission which visited Afghanistan recently at the invitation of the Ameer to discuss matters affecting Britain and Afghanistan, was interviewed at Calais. Mr Dane stated that a great durbar was held at Kabul, when the Ameer announced the conclusion of a treaty, the text of which was read. Leading Afghans presented an address congratulating the Ameer on the treaty, and thanking the British mission for its visits Wishes were expressed for the heal!a of King Edw-ard and of the Ameer. Mr Dane declared that there was no sign of Russian influence at Kabul, and that the Ameer realises that his interests are identical with those of India.
