LONDON WOOL SALES. LONDON, May 7. At the wrnol sales there was spirited competition. Merinos realised full rates, while crossbreds showed a hardening tendency. To date 47,010 bales have been catalogued and 45,595 sold.
The sales included Canterbury, ll§d per lb 3 Oreti, Is D§cl.
COMMERCIAL CABLES. LONDON, May 7. Two Australian cargoes of wheat have been sold at 31s 3d per quarter.
Hemp is quiet and unchanged. Hides arc in small supply and neglected. Sydney heavy ox, 4d. Leather is dull, and has declined |d. Basils are m buyers’ favour. First Wellingtons, 133 d. Rabbits dull. Large, 14d to loci. Hares, Is 6d to Is 9d. Frozen meat. —Mutton and lamb unchanged. Beef —New Zealand binds, 3£d per lb; River Plate binds, 3|d. Fores unchanged.
Silver, 2s 25-16 d per ounce. Copper. —On the spot, £64 17s 6d to £65 2s 6d per ton j three months, £65 to £65 ss.
Tin.—Spot, £136 to £136 10s per ton ; tli ree months, £132 los to £133 ss.
COAL OUTPUT. WESTPORT, May 8
The coal output last week was 14,496 tons Cowt, of which 12,972 tons was from tho Westport Coal Company’s mines, 1422 tons 4cwt from the Seddonvillo State mine, and 101 tons 4cwt from the Co-operative mine.
