One of lhe most enthusiastic meetings over held in Beef ton took place on Wednesday evening, 11th January, in the Council Chambers, when a motion was carried unan mousiy objecting to the granting of an application for about I9,iXM) acres of tlie Maruia Plains. A motion was also carried that Government be requested to appoint a B c eftou resident us a me ber of tlie Nelson Land Board, or one who is a resident of tlie district.
