DUCKLINGS

A Victorian contributor to the “Australian Hen” is responsible for the fol lowing:—‘T will tell you an experience of this season, which, I think, proves that ducklings have -a very hardy constitution. I sold a setting to a local gentleman, and as they (the ducklings) were not out of the shell, and as he (Mr Smith we will call him) heard the ducklings squeak inside the shell, Mr Smith tliought ho would help nature, so he cut the top of the eggs off, the part where the air oell is. Mr Smith then left them, but on going back a few hours later he found they were still not out, so he thought they should be fed, and he poured into the eggshell oatmeal and milk; he fed them three times, and yet, on the ninth day, nirm ducklings hatched out of the eleven OggS.
