The board of directors of the Bank of New Zealand on Friday appointed Mr Harold Beauchamp as deputy-chairman of the board during the absence of Mr F. de G. Malet, who will be away for about nine months on a visit to England.
The price of horses (says the “Wanganui Herald”), more particularly draughts, on this coast has been steadily dropping for tlie last three months. Good hacks still maintain their high values, as also do good express and ’bus horses. We are informed that horses to the value of about £2OOO, which were recently taken from this coast to the South Island, failed to find purchasers at Christchurch or Dunedin.
