FRENCH PARLIAMENT

PARIS, Januarv 15. Despite an announcement by M. Berteaux (Minister for War) that the Government liad abandoned the system of secret political reports, and a strong partisan appeal by the Premier (M. Combes), the Chamber of Deputies only adopted a vote of confidence in the Ministry by 289 votes to 279. The resignation of the Ministry which took office in June, 1902 —is expected to-morrow. LONDON, January 16.

Owing to the death of the mother of M. Loubet, the President, the resignation of M. Combes and his Ministers will not take place until Wednesday. M. Bouvier will probably be summoned. It is expected that M. Berteaux (who recently succeeded General Andre as Minister of War) and M. Delcasse (Minister of Foreign Affairs) will remain in the Ministry. ‘The Times” says no real change of policy is likely.
