DANGERS OF THE DEEP.

ADELAIDE, January 16. The new barquentine Alexa, bound from London to Wanganui, has put in here for repairs. Her steering gear was carried away on November 26th, when four thousand miles from Adelaide. A temporary tiller was fixed, but was also carried away, and then a juryrudder was fixed.

The barquentine met with continuous heavy weather, and was much buffeted.

HOBART, January 16. A! search party has definitely established that the Brierholme, wreckage from which was recently discovered, has been lost. The body of one of the crew has been found.

PERTH, January 16. A whale attacked and destroyed a boat containing two fishermen, who managed to reach the coast on the wreckage. BRISBANE, January 15. The remaining boat of the schooner Wywarra, wrecked at Sandy Cape, is reported to be safe.
