Under the amended time-table announced by Sir Joseph Ward in Auckland, the express which now Leaves the Manawatu station at 9.10 a.m. for New Plymouth will start at 7.50, one hour and twenty minutes earlier. This will enable the express to reach New Plymouth one hour and twenty minutes earlier than at present, and will also give the Palmerston and Feilding business men more time to answer their correspondence. The express which now leaves Christchurch for Dunedin at 10.10 a.m. will start at 8 o’clock, and thus arrive at Duned'n two hours and ten minutes earlier than at present. The alteration will also allow the train to reach Invercargill earlier. Passengers by the boat from Lyttelton will, as at present, catch the express at Wellington, unless, of course, the steamer be delayed by 7 b'd weather; but the alteration in the hour of departure of the first express at Christchurch for the South will mean that passengers from Wellington will not be able to catch it. The amended timetable »s to come into force on March Ist.
