-The cost of living in St. Louis, Mr T. E. Donne says, is very high. A room at a’;hotel costs Sdol (12s 6d) a day, and a meal’cannot be obtained for less than a dollar a day. The. price of labour employed in the preparations for the Exposition has been unusually liigh. Pick and shovel men were receiving, when Mr Donne wrote (May 13th) no less than one dollar an hour, and carpenters and painters double that sum* ■ '
