In reference to education in the Go ok Group, Colonel Gudgeon. British Resident speaks highly of the work done In the High School at Tereora in Rarotonga, afid says:—“l feel Tereora will be to the Cook Islands what Te Aute College is to " the young Maoris of New Zealand.” Credit is given the headmaster, Mr P. H. Hall, for the excellent English taught mlbis j school. Colonel Gudgeon proposes to employ a few of the smartest boys from Tereora as teachers. It is intended to consult the Resident in reference to the proposal that some of the island children should be brought to .New Zealand to be trained 'at Victoria Maori College, Auckland, and Te Aute College, Hawke s Bay, for work as teachers.
