PALMERSTON WINTER SHOW.

PALMBRSTO-N. June 20. The Palmerston winter show, which is to be opened to-morrow, will undoubtedly bo one of the most interesting and important yet conducted by the enterprising Manawatu Agricultural Association. The entries in all departments of the exhibition constitute a record. The numbers show a remarkable advance upon those of last year, as the following statement will show:

The total number of entries for tomorrow’s show is 1400 as against 811 last year. The show is to be formally opened by the Hon Ml* Duncan, Minister of Agriculture, at 2 p.m. It was decided this afternoon to keep the machinery hall open until Saturday night. The machinery division is now completed, and a trial was successfully made this afternoon. The collection of exhibits in this division is considered to be one of the largest and most comprehensive in the Australasian colonies. The exhibition poultry is also much superior to any hitherto seen in this district. The annual meeting of the National Dairy Association is to be held to-morrow morning at 10 o’clock, and in the evening the annual meeting of the New Zealand Institute of Dairy 'Secretaries will take place. The Dairy Conference, at which several subjects of importance to the future of this industry are to he discussed, is to begin on Wednesday mornings
