MAKARA

At last winter has set in, and the wet, ■cold weather has shortened the milk a- supply. There were a great many complaints while the line weather lasted that the Fresh Food and Ice Company could not take the winter supply of milk from here,.their regular customers along the railway lino keeping up the supply. However. on the first of this month the company started taking producers' full supply, the cold weather settling the difficulty. ■ A social that was successful financially and otherwise was held last Wednesday, June Ist, the proceed? of which are to go towards the bulding of a new English Church, the present one being too small for the congregation. Some of the. company contributed songs and recitations, and the selections from a gramaphone were greatly enjoyed. . At a dance given by the members of the dancing class, on Friday, June 3rd, a pleasant evening wag spent, dancing being kept up until the small hours of the morning.
