As showing the kind of autumn we are having up this way I might say that camellias axe in bloom, apple and peach trees aiA in fruit, and gardens axe still bearing green, peas and other spring vegetables. The Patea Rifles were inspected by Major-General BUbington last week. The Wairoa Atounteds went into camp and held their tournament on the Waverley Raceconrse on Tuesday, 24th Alay. At. the last Borough Council meeting the matter of having the electric light on in the town all flight was discussed. Mr Ormercd, a. new arrival from England, was appointed electrical engineer. The Mayor suggested the improvement of the Town Hall or a new up-to-date building. A general rate of Is 9d in the £ was struck. The Patea Football Club so far this season have not won a single match. He also- had an interview with the representatives of the Ironsand Company with the result that the leases of the foreshore are being drawn up. The "Little Taranaki” Creamery, at Patea, was- burnt clown on Thursday evening. the 19th ultimo. The origin of the fire is not known.
