Sir Joseph Ward has received a message from Mr T. 13- Bonne, Superintendent of the Tourist Department, now at St Louis, stating that lie is in communication with the Smithsonian Institute in regard to the - wapiti (elk) that have been presented to the Government by President. Roosevelt for liberation in the colony. Thirteen head of this fine specimen of big American deer are being forwarded, and matters are now in train for their transportation from the United States to New Zealand.
