(From Our Own Correspondent. > Mr George Walker, our respected feL low townsman, returned last week from a holiday trip to the South Island, considerably benefited in health by the change. Mr Walker, who is an enthusiast iu cycling and athletic matters, brought back with him a silver cup and gold medal presented by the Canada Cycle and Motor Company and a set of tyres presented by the Dunlop Tyre Company, which trophies are to be competed for in a series of road races to be held under the auspices of the local Cycling Club. The annual general meeting of the Pahiatua Farmers' Association was held on the 14th inst., -when the report and balance-sheet were read and unanimously adopted, and a dividend of 7£ per cent, on the paid-up capital was declared. At a meeting of directors of the Association, held the same day, Mr J. McCarty was re-elected chairman of directors, Mr Moore was elected auditor and Mr E. B. Hare secretary for the ensuing year. A very successful concert was held on the 17th inst., in aid pf the funds of the Pahiatua Rifles, items being rendered io an appreciative audience by the following ladies and gentlemen: —Mrs Milne, Misses Andrews, Little and Cixrnen, Messrs Lilly, Sturt on, Milne and Webb. The accompaniments were played by Miss Little, Miss Andrews and Mr Boagey. The first sitting of the Pahiatua District Court began on the 17th inst., before Hi 9 Honour District Judge Ward. Mr Tosswill welcomed Judge Ward on behalf of the Bar. In returning thanks, His Honour commented on the progress the Pahiatua district had made since he first visited it in 1867 and said that if the

list of cases set' down for hearing at this, the first sitting of the Pahiatna District Court, represented an average, it would appear that the Court should have been established long ago.
