Mail** have pleasure in intimating to Amateur and Professional Photographers alike that they have decided to offer <£2o in prizes, to be awarded in accordance with the terms sub-joined. There are many photographers throughout New Zealand who have, from time to time, assisted the “N.Z. Mail” in its photographic reproductions, and with a view to encouraging a spirit of emulation among amateur and other photographers this Photographic Competition is announced. Beginning this day (February 24th), the competition will REMAIN OPEN until WEDNESDAY, the 11th May, and the following are the classes and the amounts of the prizes offered: New. Zealand Landscape and Seascape Views—lst prize, <£2; 2nd prize, £ 1; 3rd prize, 10s. Bush, Farming, or Station Life pictures —Ist prize, £ 2 ; 2nd prize, £ 1; 3rd prize, 10s. Photographic Studies in Child Life, humorous or otherwise —Ist prize, <£2; 2nd prize, £ 1; 3rd prize, 10s. Collection of New Zealand Photographs —lst prize, <£3; 2nd priae, JB2; third prize. -61. Pictures illustrative of any kind of Sport—lst prize, £2; 2nd prize, £1; 3rd prize, 10s. (Exhibitors who do not succeed in obtaining Ist class prizes in classes 1,2, 3, and 5. will be eligible aii competitors in the general collection class.) Conditions.—Any photograph previously published null be barred. All exhibits must be the work of the competitors. The suitableness of the photograph for reproduction will be the main consideration, and in that case P.O.P. paper ought to be used. The proprietors of the “New Zea/land Mail” retain the right to reproduce any photograph at usual rates, and alii photos for competition will be returned to photographers if unplaced in prize list. Competitors may r offer six pictures in any section save in the general collection, in which class twelve will be the maximum allowed. The title of the picture should be written lightly in pencil on the hack of each photograph, and all photograph prints should be sent in flat. Photographs to be addressed to “Editor,” Photographic Competition, “N.Z. Mail,” Wellington.
