Dealers in preserved eggs complain of the injury inflicted upon the industry by the importation of Chinese eggs into this colony, and representations on the subject have been made to the Customs Department. It is suggested that the present import duty (20 per cent, as provisions) should be increased. Several questions were asked in the House last session in reference to this matter, and the reply then given by the Minister was that the subject would be considered when the tariff was being revised.
