The funeral of the late Mrs Higgins, wife of Mr John Higginb, G'rey Go unity road overseer, and third daughter of Mr J. Kennedy, of Ahaura, took pi ace on Saturday, April 30. The body was removed to St. .Patrick’s Ohuiroli, Greymofuth, in the morning, and the funeral service was largely attended. The pro cession was nearly, a mile long. Among the mourners wtere the onairman and members of the Gray County Council, and a large number of country residents. The Very Bov. Dean Carew conducted the funeral service. Mr Guinness, addressed a meeting, of hi's Constituents at Hatter’s Terrace, Mr Larkin being in the chair. The {representative met with an oellenjb reception and a patient hearing. A vote of confidence was carried unanimously. ; Mr Tasman Walker has finally settled on his newly-acquired homestead at Matai. The Bev. Mr York had a. very pleasing ceremony to perform in the christening of John Cleveland Howard, the firfst boy bom at Coal Greek State Mine on 6th April.
