With a view to -minimising the smoke, ash and dirt nuisance on the vessels of the Sydney Ferries, Limited, the directors some time ago authorised a series of experiments with coal and coke mixed in various proportions. These trials have been conducted With satisfactory results, and the stokeholds of the ferryboats will- ' now be supplied with the new fuel. It lias been discovered that coal and coke mixed in equal proportions, by measurement produce very little smoke, a minimum, of ash, and praoticaly no dirt from, the funnels
