The following memorandum has been received by the Mines Department from the Agent-General: —“I have been informed that the ©hale-oil Purification Syndicate (Limited) proposes to .take out the requisite patents in New Zealand for a process by which it states it will be able to. utilise even the very worst qualities of shale-oil, and which it trusts will enable the large shalebeds in New Zealand to be profitably worked.”
