(From Our Own Correspondent.) Settler® in Trentham and Wallaceville are pleased to see that the Railv ay Department has begun making . improvements at the Wallace vil li© Station. The platform its being considerably widened and more room is being made* foi vehicular traffic. This attention, to public convenience is greatly appieciated. Sunday trains are a necessity to some and a convenience to others. If the train did not run, milk-suppliers wonld be put to an immense amount of trouble as well as great expense, to convey Sunday’s milk to Wellington m tune for Monday morning’s supply. The train brings passengers from the city lor a fresh air outing, and many of those who are cooped up all the week in town greatly enjoy a stroll in the country tor a few bourns on Sunday. During the past summer hundreds of visitors have on Sundays visited Upper Huitt and the vicinity, and residents have always been pleased to see new faces in their midst. Now that summer is departing, visitors of quite a. different character from the quiet strollers have made a descent dn the place. On Sunday last two teams of footballers representing the Government Rai llway and the Manawatb Railway respectively, arrived by train, and played an game at the back of McGoverns Hotel. Of course a big crowd looked on, stentorian barrackers for both teams being in great force.
