FIGHTING IN KOREA—RUSSIANS AND JAPANESE MEET ON LAND. The Russians and Japanese have already met-on land. Some Japanese infantry surprised a number of Cossacks near Ping-yang. They immediately opened fire upon them, causing them to retreat. It is expected that the first great land battle will be fought in the neighbourhood of Ping-yang.
