AN AWKWARD POSITION
If a man won’t propose there are certain rules on conduct Avhich may help to bring him into tiie right frame of mind—-but to a large extent they are negative rules. First of all, be scrupulously neat and clean in every detail in dress and person.
Next, do not "rim after a man// No man, unless a partial imbecile, was ever won by being sought out.
Don’t get up parties to attract him to yourself, having as the other gn’J guests very plain and unattractiA'e females.
Don’t contrive to meet him in places as if it were by accident. You may deceive him a few times, but not for long. (Commit this rule to memory.) Be somebody and do something. Perfect yourself in housekeeping, some accomplishment, business, or profession, andat all hazards have a practical education. Don’t flirt. Be . friendly, be sympathetic and congenial, and as fascinating as is consistent with your woman!* delicacy?
