HATUMA

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The recent heavy winds did considerable damage to the oat stacks on the settlement, several having the tops dislodged. Chaff cutting is in full swing. Mr Mellor has just threshed thirteen acres of wheat, which yielded 45 bushels per acre. Twelve acres of Algerian oats on Mr Rood’s farm turned out 157 sacks, and out five tons of oaten chaff, and the return would have been better, only one stack wais badly damaged with rain. Ducks about the lake are very plentiful this year.
