NEURALGIA CURED BY RADIUM

An interesting paper was road before the Academy of Medicine in Paris by Dr Dan or, who, according to the “Ohronicle’s” correspondent, dealt with the therapeutic action of radium applied . in infinitesimal quantities, especially in connection with the suppression of neuralgic pain. Two eases of convulsive nervousness which had come under liis observation had been completely cured after three days’ application of radium on the temples. A patient suffering from neurasthenia had been restored in three days, while another affected by acute facial paralysis recovered in one day. The activity of the radium employed varied from 10 to 7000 unite, whereas pure radium attains to 1,800,000 units of radio-activity. The radium which had given the best results bad a radioactivity of from 1000 to 7000 units, and this had been applied during two to six hours a day. The lecturer pointed out that preparations of radium of this strength could he made at a very resoaab'le cost.
