Messrs Freeman R. Jack-son and Co. (in conjunction v with Abraham and,Williams. Ltd.), report on their Johnsonville sale as follows:—A fair entry of bullocks, -light weights and medium quality, made 22s per 1001 b. Best bullocks £8 15s, others £8 2s Gd to £8 7s Cd and £7 5s to £7 15s. We had a good yarding of sheep, including .some lino heavy ewes and wethers. Bidding was alo-w. Best wethers made 17s to 17s 3d, ewes 15s lOd, others 15s and Ids to 14s Cd, light ewes 12s 6d, stores 11s Gd, oulils 5s (id. A good yarding of pork sold freely at 28s Gd to 30s Gd, light 24s Gd. Thera way a fair attendance at the Addington yards. Business in most departments wars good. Fiat cattle. —The yarding way above the average both in numbers and quality, but demand was dull. Prices receded 15s to 20s peir head, leaving tho value of good prime beef at 20s to 22s Gd, and secondary 18s to 20s per 1001 b. Steens -made £G 10s to £ll 17s Gd; heifers, £5 10s to £9; oowkj, £5 to £7 ss. Store catbe.—There was a small entry only, and business in eoaise-quonca was in the few lines of young stock present which met with fair competition, a mixed fifteen to eighteen months lot Sailing at 54s -to 77s Gd; calves, 17s; two-year-old heifers, £4; "three-ycnr-cVd steers, £G 7s; dry cows, £1 10s to £3. Dairy cows. —The number offered was much smaller than that of the previous week. Most of the cows were of fair quality, and there was an improvement in the sale, -a good proportion being sold. Best springers brought £7 bo £9 7s Gd; inferior springera, £4 to £6; corns in profit. £3 to £7; for Ayrshire, £lO. Fat sheep.—There was a fair entry, and good demand. An all!-round advance upon the previous week’s rates was shown, both exporters and butchers bidding freely. Several very prime lines of wethers, and ewes were penned, and realised from 22s to 25s Gd for wethers, and from 20s to 22s for ewes. Old ewes were in -better quality than usual. The prices current were —Fair to prime wethers, 18s to 21s Gd ; extra, to 25s Gd; prime heavy ewes, 17s Gd to 20s; extra, to 225; others, from 12a 3d to 17s ; merino wethers (not representative entry), 13s Gd to lGs 9d. Store isihoep.—-The entry of lambs was much smaller than that at reoen.t markets, and with active demand there was a further advance in prices. Well-con-ditioned wethers, of which there was a good entry, were in particular- request. Good ewes were very keenly competed for at an advance on last week’s bates. Fat lambs.—The average. entry, in point of number, included a fair proportion of prime lamb©. There was a brisk demand for all grades at fu'lly late values. .Prime quality, 14s Gd to IGs 7d; tegs, to 17s 9d; light unfinished, from 13s. Pigs.—There was a large entry, and though there was tho usual demand, prices were lower for all descriptions except ‘large stores, for which there was outside demand. Bacon ©rs sold at 42s to 54s Gd, equal to 4fd to 4kl per lb; overweights, 3d to 3',‘d (four heavy pigs spilling at 57s Gd); porkers, 30s to 40s, equal to 4fd to sd; large stores, 32s to 38s; small 16s to 30s; weauers, 9s to 12s. DUNEDIN, April 20. Burnside market. —Fat cattle —202 head were yarded, a fair proportion good to prime. The demand was not brisk, and prices, if anything, were lower than was the case last week. Best bullock? £9 10s to £lO 7s Gd, medium £8 to £9 ss, light £5 15s to £7 10s; best cows and heifer's, £6 15s to £3 ss. medium, £5 10s to £6 10s. light £J to £5 ss. Fat sheep—2322 were penned.

Pigs—l 72 were yarded, mostly suckers and slips, for which prices were down, but porkers and baconers sold up to last week’s prices. Suckers, 8s Gd to 11s Gd ; slips, 12s Gd to 15s 61; stores, 21s to 2Gs; porkers, 32s to 40s*; baconens, 46s to 51s; extra heavy, 52!s to Gls. • OTAGO PRODUCE MARKETS. DUNEDIN, April 21. Oats.—Prime milling lines have limited inquiry, but nothing like an extensive business is being done. The demand for export is on the lowest possible scale, and only odd lots find an outlet +o supply shippers’ actual orders. Consignments aro coming forward freely, and in consequence stocks have accumulated considerably. Chaff.—Prime oaten sheaf is the only kind wanted, and this is readily taken at quotations. Medium and inferior quality is in over -supply, and difficult to deal with at any price.
