THE BONHAM PIG-HOUSE.

| The primary object, of the Bonham pigihouise is to semre shelter, warmth, sunshine, and pure air at reasonable cost, and the secondary object is to have j it as'handy for feeding and handling the sows and pig's as possible. For some sows the main roof may be shortened 18in. This will give a pitch to the front, and a sash Gib Gin x lift, in front to let in the sunlight and keep cot the rain and cold may bo provided. This addis a little to the cost, but makes an ideal shelter for spring- litters, when sunshine is never in excess and of inesI timable value. In very cold weather wo ‘ add a swinging door, but a gunny sack j hung at the top of the door will do. If ! the weather is below zero and windy a | lighted lantern hung to the roof inside i until the pigs are dry and have had

their first meal of the sow’s milk will keep them comfortable in the coldest weather. The warmth of the .sow is sufficient in other weather to keep the pig's comfortable in such a pen. This house is sft x 6ft. Four scantlings 2in x 2hi x 12ft, an*l two. scantlings 2in x 4in x 12ft will make the frame and roof supports. The bottom rail is 2in x 4in., the others 2in x 2in. The three pieces for- the roof arei cut 6ft x Gin. to give a 3in projection of roof beyond the sides. The illustration shows the house set up and the drop window partly down. The constirjuction fe readily seen. After the house is ready to set together 'have the floor made just large enough to 'let the sides of the house, set outside the floor. The cost of this houfee is about sdol. It pays to paint the roof every three years, brut the sides will last without paint as long as the roof is well painted. Takcfn down each fall and Spring and whitewashed and &eit up against a fence or in a shod {until needed, it will give long service.—-“Breeders’ Gazette.”
