THE SECRET OF WARM FEET
A life insurance company, whose advice under tho circumstance may be taken! a© sincere, . tells* its clients that* the golden rule in coldi weather is to keep the extremities warm.. The first and most important rule for the carrying ont of this idea, is never to be tiglitly shod. Boots or shoes that fit closely prevent the free circulation of the blood by pressure; but when, on the contrary, they do not embrace the foot too firmly, the spaic© left between the shoe and the stocking ha© a good supply of warm. air. The second rule* is never to sit in damp shoesi It is often supposed,' that unless shoes are positively wet it is unnecessary to changp them, white the feet, are at l’eistl Thisi is a great fallacy, for when the least dampness is absorbed into the* sol© in its evaporation it absorbs the heat from the foot, avid thus perspiration is dangerously cheeked. This can easily be proved by trying the experiment of neglecting the rule. The feet wilfl. be found cold and damp after a few minutes, although on taking off the shoe and examining it it will appear to bo quite dry.
