THE MURDER AT TE AWAITE.
.police; still searching
Special to the “Mail.”
MARTINBOROUGH, April 10.
The murder of Collinson at Te Awaite has lost its interest at Martinhorough. The probable whereabouts of Ellis, or McKenzie, are no longer a matter for speculation. About half a dozen police officers are somewhere in the surrounding country, but nobody seems to know or care what they are doing, or what they are not doing—except the deerstalkers, who growl because Te Awaite has been closed for the season to antlerhunters. at the request of the police. Some days ago a message from Waikanae reached the police at Wellington that a man thought to be McKenzie had walked across the ranges from Marton. An order for his arrest was promptly made o-ufc on a charge of lunacy, and the man was found at Petone, but, needless to say, he was not McKenzie.
