The funeral of the late Mr George H. Bethune took place on Thursday, the remains leaving the residence of his mother, “Hawkhill,” Wellington terrace, for the Karori Cemetery, at 8.30 a.m. There was a very large attendance of the friends of the deceased. Among the institutions represented were the Star Boating Club (its officers and many members), the Wellington Physical Training School, Wellington Football Club, St. Peter’s Clutf, St. John Ambulance Association. The members of the staff of Messrs J. H. Bethune and Co. and many prominent business men were present. A huge pile of beautiful wreaths moulded floral tributes from the Star Boating Club. Wellington Rowing, Canterbury and Mawatiri Rowing Clubs. The chief mourners were the brothers of the deceased, Messrs H., W. E., J. H. and A. Bethune. An impressive service waa conducted at the giraveside by the Rev. G. P. Davys, of St. Peter’s, of which churoh the deceased was a vestryman up to the time of his death.
