The weather is most unusually dry, and those within the water area who have not already done so. are getting connected with the borough supply. Notwithstanding the fact that we are very favourably situated as to rivers, etc., many settlers who were depending upon small streams are seeking fresh means of watering stock. We have only had three aryl a half days’ rain since Dec. 30th., and all the gardens are spoiling for lack of moistpre.

A meeting of the Farmers’ Club was held at the Club Hotel o-n Tuesday to say farewell to Mr Leithead, who was one of the founders of the club. In recognition of this fact and of his real good work during the past fourteen years, ho was elected a life member. A very pretty wedding toolc place at Holy Trinity Church on Wednesday morning. Mr Mont. Pickering was marrie|d to Miss Effie Dixon, a popular young ,lady. Canon Eccles performed the ceremony, and Mr Marryat played the wadding march as the couple left the church. gave an open-air performance in Fountains Square on Sunday afternoon. They played several'test pieces in a splendid manner. At the Wednesday evening marching pretiee in the Recreation Grqun>d quite a crowd assembled to watch the cleverly executed movenients and to listen to the- soul-stirringi/fimSJC-On Thursday night welcomofraiii sot in, but cleared again soon.
